Helping farmers increase the value of coffee
Pham Hoai Nguyen Anh (born 1990, Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak) has clear eyes, an optimistic spirit, running like a shuttle between coffee shops and provincial shopping hubs. No one thought that the tall and thin young man was the owner of Anh Coffee Co., Ltd.
Leading us to visit the green coffee garden in Ea H'leo district (Dak Lak), Nguyen Anh said that he grew up in the mountains and forests of the Central Highlands, but he didn't know much about coffee until he became a student majoring in Economic Law (Central Highlands University). In the days when she followed her classmates back to the farm, Nguyen Anh fell in love with the pure flowers and the aroma of coffee.
After graduating from school in 2012, Nguyen Anh set foot in all the coffee production areas in the country, going abroad to learn how to make and enjoy them. Nguyen Anh noticed that coffee in your country is cherished, collected each ripe berry, dried in a clean greenhouse; In their hometown, people pick both green and ripe fruits, dry them on the ground despite the rain and dust. Nguyen Anh outlined a path to change the farming mindset. To do so, he must solve the output problem before convincing farmers to change. Nguyen Anh hand-picked the round fruits, absorbed enough dew from the sky and wind to roast on the wood stove. Then he tasted dozens of cups of coffee a day to find the best recipe to bring to customers.
"Coffee has become my ideal in life. My goal is to raise the level of Vietnamese coffee in the international arena, sharing high benefits with companions and farmers." Nguyen Anh confided |
With the vision of bringing Vietnamese coffee to the same level as a coffee powerhouse, Nguyen Anh set up a company, invested in preliminary processing machinery, and provided technical guidance.
Currently, Nguyen Anh has built a 50-hectare raw material area in Ea H'leo district to serve deep processing and export high-quality roasted coffee to foreign partners. In addition, Nguyen Anh also instructs farmers to cultivate coffee in an organic direction with an agricultural tourism model.
Thanks to catching up with modern consumer trends, Nguyen Anh began to have large partners and orders from the United States and Australia.
The boss's three words are unruly
These days, Mr. Nguyen Huu Duy (born 1987, Gia Lai), Director of HD Gia Lai Coffee Co., Ltd. started work after a period of "hibernation" due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic. The past two epidemics have severely affected 8 of his coffee shops, with monthly revenue decreasing by up to 60%. Falling into a position of running out of financial resources, Duy still maintains an optimistic spirit.
The reason why Duy maintains optimism in the face of difficulties due to his ups and downs on the path to starting a business. Duy considers himself a stubborn person, unable to work for others. So at the end of his 3rd year of university (automotive mechanics, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology), he took a break from business and made money like a machine. Leaving the splendid Saigon, Duy began to look for books, then came to skills courses and cycling across Vietnam (at the end of 2013) to find his ideal life. When he had set foot in many places, Duy realized that there was no place like his hometown and decided to go back.
The time when Duy returned to his hometown was at the right time, the trend of pure coffee was fragile and he immediately seized the opportunity. Duy persuaded his family to sell 2 hectares of coffee soaked with all kinds of chemical fertilizers, buy 2 hectares of newly replanted land in an organic direction and ask for a loan to help 200 million VND to build a roasting factory, rent a space to open a coffee shop... Working hard, but in the first 3 months, the young man started a business with heavy losses, because it was not easy to change the habit of drinking mixed coffee to pure.
Becoming the boss, Duy still does not dare to admit success. He confided that life taught him 3 words: Dare (Dare to fail); Desire (Desire must be justified); Do (Take drastic action). The past two epidemics have proven Huu Duy's consistency and not being knocked down.
